Jan Elmore has lived in the Charlottesville area since 1980.  A graduate of Virginia Tech, she received her Art Degree and Teaching Certification in 1973.   After teaching Art in the Roanoke County School system, she moved to Charlottesville where she worked for 16 years as an Art teacher and a Guide in the Middle School classroom at the Montessori Community School.  Her involvement in the community includes sitting on the boards of Piedmont Council for the Arts and Second Street Gallery, and a variety of outreach art projects.  Since 1985, she has exhibited her work in nationally ranked art and craft shows.

Jan’s multifaceted work includes mixed media compositions that integrate paintings with sculptural forms in wood and metal, contemporary mirror frames in wood, and designs comprised of layered, hand-painted papers.
